About me
Hi, I'm Izzy. I'm a Breathwork Facilitator, and I found my way to this work through my own journey of discovery. Before I guided anyone else, I was a young paramedic in London who had no idea how to look after her mental or emotional health. This is the story of how I got from there to here, and why I now do what I do.
Where it began
Growing up, I always felt slightly set apart from others. I felt things deeply, but instead of showing it, I hid behind humour and became whoever I thought I needed to be. From an early age I developed an eating disorder, rooted in low self-esteem and a quiet belief that I wasn't enough.
Without realising it, I learned to look outside myself for proof of my worth. Unable to love myself, I longed to be seen and appreciated by others. I measured my worth by how others saw me, how much they wanted me and how important I felt in their lives. I didn't see it then, but I was searching outside myself for the worth, safety and belonging I hadn't yet learned to give myself.
From the outside, it may have looked like I was doing well. On the inside, I had drifted far from my authentic self, and I didn't yet have the words or the tools to find my way back.
Answering the call to care
Through all of it, one thing stayed constant: I always knew I wanted to care for others. That pull is what led me to train as a Paramedic.
I loved the work. It gave me purpose, and there is nothing quite like being trusted by someone on one of the hardest days of their life.
When my body said enough
Over time it became impossible to ignore that I am a highly sensitive person, and that doing such an intense job in London was creating a great deal of dysregulation in me. I was in my early twenties, and I had no idea how to regulate myself.
My body began to tell me what my mind wouldn't. I developed intense physical symptoms: shortness of breath, air hunger, chest pain, chronic headaches and overwhelming anxiety. I was exhausted, burnt out and in real need of support and release.
Training to guide others
Eventually, I made the decision to leave my career as a paramedic and completed the 400-hour Breathwork Facilitator training with Alchemy of Breath.
I thought I was training to hold space for other people, but the training took me much deeper into my own journey than I could have imagined. I met so many different versions of myself, the parts I loved, the parts I had pushed away, and everything in between.
Breathwork gave me the space and strength to meet myself exactly where I was, and to move through each of those moments of death and rebirth. I came out the other side feeling more connected, more grounded, and more whole.
Finding breathwork
Then I was introduced to a breathwork facilitator, and something shifted. I had no idea at the time just how much it would change the path I thought I was on.
Breathwork helped me soften, let go of things I’d been carrying for years, and, for the first time, feel truly safe within myself. As I experienced the impact it had on my own life, I felt a growing pull to share this practice with others.
Why I do this now
At the heart of what I do is a deep desire to care for people. Breathwork has given me a way to turn that part of myself into something that feels purposeful, meaningful and sustainable. Something that allows me to support others while honoring my own wellbeing too.
If you're struggling with your identity, your sense of purpose or your self-worth, or you're simply feeling a little lost or overwhelmed, I get it. I've been there too.
You don't need to have it all figured out, and there's nothing about you that needs fixing. You are welcome exactly as you are, and I'd be honoured to walk alongside you, gently and at your own pace.
Life Beyond Breathwork
When I’m not guiding breathwork, you’ll mostly find me with animals. Growing up around dogs and farm animals, they became my first and most reliable source of calm, and they still regulate me in a way little else can.
After spending a year in Australia, my love of the ocean and the natural world deepened. These days I’ve traded the pace of Sydney and London for the Yorkshire Moors and the coastal town of Whitby, where my days are shaped by long walks, sea air, and plenty of time with four-legged friends.
